Certificate in Song Therapy Skills Entry Requirements
Academic
Entry Requirements
Our
online certificate course involves a lot of reading some of which is
theory based and quite academic but we make a very special effort to communicate our
learning in a way that is open and accessible
Many
of our students are well qualified with Degrees Master Degrees and in
some cases Doctorates too
Other students have years of practical
work experience in many different walks of life and many have developed very
special human skills working with those facing sobering health challenges in their lives
Our course has been independently assessed as equivalent to a 'Level Three' qualification but given the academic frameworks of the course ideally you
will have studied to A level or equivalent* and so will have an understanding
of the demands on your time as you embrace some of the reading that is
required
You will also need to allow time for videos assignments and
other practical exercises
* Please note we
are happy to consider applications from mature students who have
studied to GCSE level or equivalent if they have also undertaken industry
training during their working lives involving some academic reading submission
of essays and case studies
Musical
Skills Entry Requirements
Our course is first and foremost a leadership course promoting the development of soft transferable human skills designed specifically for music deliverers
As such there
are no specific musical entry requirements but we do however need to know
that you plan to organise and/or deliver music in paid or voluntary work
Many of our students use
their voice or other musical skills informally in their professional work
settings
You might be using pre-recorded music regularly or perhaps engaging professional musicians as a part of your music making programmes
Some do indeed come from professional music backgrounds and are already delivering music wellbeing programmes in community care or education
We welcome students with qualifications and experience in other fields such as social care nursing counselling social work and psychotherapy
Finally we also accept applications from those with a wider interest in music and wellbeing for a range of different professional and personal reasons
It
is important to say that there are two particular musical modules of the course
that some might find more demanding than others and we provide extra support
for those who are less familiar with some of the musical protocols that
we discuss
If in doubt please get in touch and we can answer any queries you may have as to whether or not our course is exactly right for you
